On arrival at Shires Rest Cafe you are collected in the Hobbiton bus and taken to Middle Earth via the 1250 acre sheep farm. Your guide will take you on a 2 hour journey through "The Shire" and there are ample photo opportunities to take home - Gandalf's cutting, hobbit holes, the Green Dragon Inn. You will be told the story of how the remote set was discovered and you will even be given a drink inside the Green Dragon Inn at the end of the tour. Hobbiton is a living film set - it is maintained by a team of gardeners and maintenance staff. After your Hobbiton tour we head into Matamata for a lunch break and a photo with Gollum who resides at the tourist information centre which charades as a "Shire" building. Matamata is the closest town to Hobbiton and since its launch the town has enjoyed becoming a tourist destination.
